Rabbits are very sensitive to changes in food
When you take your rabbit home please be sure to mix your feed half and half with the feed that the rabbit is used to and gradually decrease the old feed increasing the new feed. This will help your rabbit to get used to their new feed without becoming ill. Watch the feed and water to be sure that your rabbit is still consuming enough food and water as some will go off both food and water when there is a change in environment, water bottle type, or food.

We Feed Purina Show Rabbit
It is a 16% feed but we add a few things to our feed like Barley, Black sunflower seeds, Flax Seed, Oats and Calf Manna.
You can feed any feed that is 16-18% but we choose to go with a 16% because our rabbits get so many of the extras that bring the feed up to between 18-20%.
We do not feed additional salt or vitamins as the feeds that Purina makes have all the salt and vitamins that your rabbit will need.

First Aid for rabbits
Wormers-
-Piperazine wormer is recommended once every three months. It is a 17% solution and shoud be given at 4 drops per pound of rabbit by mouth.
-Ivomec 1% cattle wormer is used for treatment of fur mites and many internal paracites. Use 1/10cc per pound of body weight. Also given once every 3 months.
Diarrhea-
Biosol-also called Neomycin Sulfate or Dry Tail is used to combat infectious mucoid enteritis or diarhea.
Weepy eyes-
Terramycin ointment is used when your rabbit has conjunctivitis or pink eye.
Bleeding from the toenails-
Kwik-Stop-If a toe nail is cut to short you must stop the bleeding with Kwik-Stop please have this on hand at all times as a rabbit can bleed to death if the bleeding is not stopped right away.
Respiratory Infections-
LA200- is a very good broad spectrum Antibiotic. Be careful with antibiotics as they can effect the "good bacteria" in the rabbits system and can cause diarrhea.
Good Bacteria-
ProBois or BeneBac-is a good thing to keep on hand to help keep the beneficial bacteria florishing and keep things like diarrhea away.
Furblock-
Petromalt or Papaya is good to keep on hand for prevention of furblock. If you feed Papaya as a treat once or twice a week you shouldn't have trouble with this.
